We know getting sober isn't easy, but you aren't alone. Whether you're new to AA or new to SWOW, we welcome you.
Find a meeting to attend that works for your schedule and where you feel comfortable. Many women have found women's only meetings like ours to be very welcoming.
Sponsors are here to answer your questions, provide support and help you stay sober! As you start attending meetings, reach out to those volunteering to be sponsors. You can also ask for a temporary sponsor via the chat button in zoom.
Challenge yourself to attend a meeting every day for the first few months. This can help you build great new habits to replace old ones. It will also help you see beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are not alone.
Volunteer with us! Like all AA groups, we are self-run by volunteers. Getting involved is a great way to get to know other women in the meeting and to learn about how the group works.
Are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired?
Your body is going through many changes right now that can make staying sober feel nearly impossible. Be gentle with yourself. Remember HALT, especially when you feel like drinking, and take care of your needs.
Don't worry about how you're going to get through tomorrow, or next week. Just get through today.
Don't drink today, no matter what. If you are in early sobriety (or really any time in sobriety) and you feel like you want to drink call your sponsor or get to a meeting as quickly as you can.
